It is intended for use with Version 2.1.4 of the program.
GEE makes connections over the internet to get seismograms and information about recent earthquakes. Unfortunantly, many schools use firewalls that prevent GEE from making these connections. If you get a message from GEE saying something like "Network Unavailable" or "Corba is not available, GEE will now go offline" then you may be behind one of these restrictive firewalls. In order for GEE to work with recent data in your location, you will need to have your computer network administrator create rules in the firewall that allow connections to the servers that GEE talks to. The information your systems administrator needs is below.
Simplest firewall configuration: The simplest configuration would be to allow connections to any port on the following IP addresses: 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168.
More complex firewall configuration: If your administrator is not willing to open all ports to these machines, then the list of ports currently being used is below. Be aware that this list may change from time to time, hence some features in GEE may not be available should a new port be needed.
