The MPSSZ continued to be the most active (non RIS) seismic source zone in the Coastal Plain in 1998. There were eighteen locatable earthquakes.
These events with magnitudes ranging between ML = 0.42 and ML = 2.16 were located at depths shallowe r than 12.5 km. The seismicity in 1998 was sparse. The seismicity was widespread in the MPSSZ. Temporally, the seismicity was distributed throughout the year.
