Hardware Schematic for SCEPP
One high school in each county would host a SCEPP seismometer station. The map in the diagram to the right schematically illustrates the potential station (triangles) distribution relative to the central data repository at USC (star). The SCEPP network hardware will be modeled after the successful real-time data access approach in use at PEPP participating networks in Indiana and in Alaska. Seismometers at each host school would be installed on the school grounds or in a basement. Ground motion would be digitized by the on-site PC and transmitted to the USC central respository in one-minute packets via the Internet. All data from all schools could then be downloaded by any teacher or student in the state via a WWW browser for use in the SCEPP instructional modules.
